Welcome to FjordStrong, a Marine Environmental Consultancy where zero-impact methodologies meets cost-effective and robust data.

FjordStrong began in 2019 as a commercial spin out from the Marine Research group at Queen’s University Belfast.

Combining our years of experience across multiple marine industries with our very own patented research technology, we set out to deliver sustainable and affordable marine biodiversity surveys tailored towards the offshore industry and conservation efforts alike.

While traditional methods such as bottom trawling continue to dominate the landscape, we understand that a switch to a sustainable alternative is not only crucial for the welfare of our oceans, but increasingly demanded by legislation, stakeholders and the public alike.

Our focus on zero-impact video-based practices lays the foundation for responsible decision-making and effective monitoring programs, harmonising blue growth with a sustainable future for our oceans.

FjordStrong began in 2019 as a commercial spin out from a marine research group at Queen’s University Belfast, a Russell Group University that prioritises academic excellence. Combining our years of experience across multiple marine industries with our very own patented research technology, we set out to deliver sustainable and affordable marine biodiversity surveys tailored towards the offshore industry and conservation efforts alike.

While traditional methods such as bottom trawling continue to be dominate the landscape, FjordStrong believes that a switch to a sustainable alternative is not only crucial for the welfare of our oceans, but increasingly demanded by legislation, stakeholders and the public alike. Diverging from conventional methods, FjordStrong specialises in video-based approaches such as 3D photogrammetry and non-contact towed video transects to provide tailor-made datasets to our clients without endangering wildlife or compromising critical habitats. Our focus on sustainable practices lays the foundation for responsible decision-making and effective monitoring programs, harmonising blue growth with a sustainable future for our oceans.

FjordStrong shares our client’s vision for the future of offshore windfarms and their crucial role in ensuring our energy security. However, this vision can only be fully realised through forward-thinking planning and industry-leading stewardship of our oceans. Therefore, we are committed to empowering our clients through a full cycle service, from developing a robust survey design that addresses well-informed objectives, through to reporting and consultancy.
